Abraham Furman House
Newtown - Abraham Furman House - Forest Hills Abraham Furman House - View of south facade (front), on the east side of White Pot Road (now Yellowstone Blvd.), just south of line of Dartmouth St. The house faced south with west end (at left) facing Yellowstone Blvd. It was the Furman House and farm from the early 1700s into the 1870s. According to Armbruster, the house was torn down by August 1925.

Photo shows the front (south) facade and the west end, which faced Yellowstone Blvd. (White Pot Road), just south of Dartmouth St. The house in left background is on the west Side of Yellowstone Blvd. near Clyde St. (is this the Boerum House near Dartmouth St.?). Furman House was later the Hiram Miller House. In 1922 the Pennsylvania Railroad owned it.

The house burned down in 1923.

Newtown - White Pot Road - Forest Hills White Pot Road - (this part now Fleet St.) view looking NE along White Pot Road (Fleet St. and Dane Place beyond the curve) from the Long Island Railroad Tracks (no longer there now greenspace between Alderton St. and Selfridge St.), running parallel with Alderton St. Hiram Miller built the house on the right and an 1896 map lists his name here. William Boerum House is on the right (south side) of the road beyond the bend near Exeter St.

At the rear of the house was a shed and a well-house, to the left of house in the background is part of the Forest Hills Stadium.

Newtown - White Pot Road - Forest Hills White Pot Road - (now Fleet St.) south side showing a grey frame house (a Schapman House), opposite Thornton Pl. on a high ground one acre plot. C. Schapman owned in 1896 (there was also another Schapman House across the road). The house was still standing in 1959 as 66-18 Fleet St. and was the Fleet St. Inn. This was the last survivor of the White Pot Houses, it has since been demolished. Photo taken April 1923.

Newtown - Springsteen House - Rego Park Springsteen House - View of the west side of the David Springsteen House, built in 1859 by Michael Stryker Springsteen (David's Father), on the north side of White Pot Road (now Fleet St.), partly in road bed of Alderton St., and partly on the NE corner. Michael Stryker Springsteen (1804-1886), Husband of Alletta B. Duryea and Father of David, built the house. David Springsteen inherited and in 1888 and married Annie W. Montfort of Brooklyn.
