Vietor House

Newtown - Vietor House - Elmhurst Vietor House - aka Woodward House. Located at the NE corner of Broadway & Elmhurst Ave. (Old Flushing Ave.), looking SE down Broadway. A Grey Shingled house, the north wing was built in the 18th Century (the original 17th Century Homestead was further north). Lambert Woodward owned the land in 1666 (d.1690), his son Nathaniel (d.1744) married Mary Moore (Samuel Moore's Daughter - of the Moore House). Then Nathaniel and Mary's son Lambert Woodward (b. 1705) owned the farm. The Vietor family lived here by mid-19th Century.

Close up of 18th Century north wing at the NE corner of Broadway & Elmhurst Ave. (Old Flushing Ave.) The land was in the Woodward Family since 1666. The original house (17th Century) was some distance north of the house in the Photograph and was torn down around 1880. Theodore Vietor lived there in 1860, then his son Henry O. Vietor (d. 1923) \[H. Vietor].

The Woodward's were on this land since 1666, it became Vietor House in mid-19th Century. The original Woodward homestead of the 17th Century stood north of here, and was torn down about 1880.
