Elaborately carved base of fountain showing Venus, Poseidon, and other mythological figures on circumference. Label on verso: "The Italian Renaissance well-curb in the Institute's courtyard, cut from a single block of marble, came via Duveen Brothers' London agent, from an old palazzo near Milan, Italy, and was installed in 1900."
