Newtown - Heckmann's Halfway House - Elmhurst

Heckmann's Halfway House - The old and new halfway house on the north side of old Queens Blvd. opposite Eliot Ave., about 300 feet east of Woodhaven Blvd. George Heckmann operated the old part from 1896 until his death in Dec. 1911. The new part of the hotel (large building on the right) was built by Dietrich Mueller, the Son of Herman Mueller of Old Mill Road.
