Newtown - Heckmann's Halfway House - Elmhurst

Heckmann's Halfway House - View of both the old and new halfway house on the north side of old Queens Blvd. opposite Eliot Ave. This view is looking west with the old structure at the west end. George Heckmann came to Newtown 1895 and operated the Halfway House 1896 - 1911. Dietrich Mueller, son of Herman Mueller of Old Mill Road, built the New Hotel and died here. His widow married J. Tompkins of Old Mill Road.
