Ice Breaking on Flushing Bay
A fireman stands with a plunger, waiting to detonate dynamite, in an effort to clear ice from the frozen Flushing Bay. Queens Borough President Maurice Connolly (at the far right), and other city and borough officials stand next to him. The frozen bay was preventing the delivery of coal to the area. The attempt was unsuccessful.; hand written on back of print: Photos on ice - Flushing Bay Jan. 21-1918
