Manhattan: Broadway - 32nd Street
1287-1289 Broadway, west side, between 32nd and 33rd Streets. This block morphologically belongs to Sixth Avenue, but is given Broadway house numbering, and hence must be considered the west side of Broadway.
The Eagle Theatre, in the centre has just recently opened. In 1878 its name will be changed to the Standard Theatre, and it will finally be replaced by the Manhattan Theatre. This block will be occupied about 1915 by Gimbel Brothers' department store. Within a few weeks foundation work will begin on the Sixth Avenue Elevated Railroad.
Early spring, 1876.
Brown Brothers.
