Rectory of the Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton
When this house was erected, Lower Manhattan was still a fashionable residential area. The original Georgian structure has an elegant addition in the Federal style with an Ionic portico conforming to the curve of the street. The building is now a shrine to the first native-born American (and New Yorker) granted sainthood by the Roman Catholic Church.
