Hendrick I. Lott House

The Lott family first settled in what is now Brooklyn in 1652. In 1720 Johannes Lott erected a small house in the village of Flatlands. Eighty years later his grandson Hendrick built a new house that incorporated the earlier building as its east wing. The house, designed in the traditional Dutch Colonial style, remains on its original site and is virtually unaltered on the exterior, retaining its gambrel roof, spring eaves, and shingled siding. The large site gives a sense of the house’s original setting. From the "Guide to New York City Landmarks", courtesy of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.
