Silver Lake

Board of Water Supply. Silver Lake Reservoir. In 1913 New York City put out a bid for the construction of a 56-acre reservoir that would encompass the old Silver Lake and be the terminus for the Catskill water supply in Staten Island. This is Silver Lake Camp. Contractors often built “camps” to house workers during the course of projects. Six buildings in foreground are sleeping quarters and the two buildings in upper right corner are wash houses and toilet and mess hall. May 15, 1914.
