Jackson Heights Golf Club
Post
Jackson Heights Golf Club, 1922. When the Queensboro Corporation began building garden apartment complexes in Jackson Heights in the late 1910s, they included a golf course for their new residents. To attract Manhattanites, the development company, founded by Edward A. MacDougall, offered a "charmed, aristocratic world of golf and tennis clubs, skating rinks and quaint shops." The course was popular in the 1920s, but the land was valuable. In the mid to late 1930s, at the height of the rough years of the Depressions, the developers decided the neighborhood was better served by additional apartments and not the luxury, community spaces like a golf course.

We are now in the most difficult situation for the COVID 19 pandemic as a whole nation and world. Right now we all are broken financially. Not only that we aren't able to go out frequently as the virus spread very quickly. But I am glad that my family members are still healthy and ok.

In my opinion, this experience made bonds grow stronger. Seeing my family members every day for almost every hour made me grow closer to them and create new memories in this new pandemic experience. It was fun to obtain new hobbies like cooking baking and playing Just Dance, while at the same time quarantining and being there for each other at home. I’m glad we could also still keep family traditions like camping. I think it was an experience worth having.
