Two buildings were constructed at this site in 1853 by George Law, and there is evidence they have operated as a theater since at least the 1920s. Since 1973, the ground floor of this building has been home to the Classic Stage Company, one of New York’s oldest continuously operating Off Broadway theaters. A lithographer who produced piano sheet music was also located here.
