This Old Law tenement was built by John P. Schuchman, a pillar in the neighborhood’s German-American community and a member of the Tenement House Committee in the 1890s. The building was designed by notable architect John G. Prague and contained amenities for residents not typical of and not yet required for tenements. It later housed a legendary shop selling vintage fashion magazines and photographs.
