814 Broadway is a five-story masonry structure built in 1854. This building has important connections to the Civil War, abolition, the first woman doctor in America, the establishment of the American Red Cross, a prominent umbrella manufacturer, one of the oldest literary clubs in the United States, and the underground/avant garde Downtown film and video scene.
