This largely intact c. 1845-1846 Greek Revival rowhouse was constructed for the prominent businessman and philanthropist John Schermerhorn Bussing. The building was the home of notable artists, filmmakers, and the pro-union composer Marc Blitzstein. It also housed the workrooms and showrooms of a renowned fashion designer, and an archive dedicated to the prominent African American jazz musician Milton Hinton.
