Newtown - Coe's House (aka Coe's Mill, aka Titus House) - Corona

Coe's House (aka Coe's Mill, aka Titus House) - View from the road, horse and buggy in front. Located on the west side of Colonial Ave. (formerly North Hempstead Turnpike aka Old Mill Rd.) Built in 1654, Coe Mill was started 1652 on the creek across the road (Horse Brook, aka Mill Creek). Coe House had Dutch doors, flooring boards 24" wide and 2" thick, a center hall 9 feet wide, a dining room on left, and a parlor on the right. There was a fireplace in the cellar, and large rafters - it was twenty four rooms in all, including the milk house. It was torn down by September 1930. The L.I. Expressway now covers this area.
