The Krueger Cafe and Restaurant at No. 56 Union Square (later 213 Park Avenue South), ca. 1910.
This space would later become the legendary Max's Kansas City, the venue of choice for New York School artists of the 1960s and Andy Warhol's coterie of avant-garde performers and hangers-on. Later, the bar was reinvented as a music venue, becoming a crucible of the city's nascent punk, post-punk, and no-wave scenes.
