Pageant Book Store, 109 East 9th Street; unknown date.

Pageant Book Store was established in 1946 and located at a number of venues on Fourth Avenue (then called the “Book Row”) before moving into its most well-known location on 9th Street in 1981. At this location they expanded offerings to include prints, maps, and facsimiles of important works, produced in-house. The movie "Hannah and Her Sisters" filmed a scene here in the mid 1980s. Moved to West Houston Street in 1994, the store closed in 1999, though the bookselling continued on the web. A brick and mortar location opened in a small space on East 4th Street in 2006, where it remains today.
