American Thread Building, behind the tracks of the Sixth Avenue El, 1928.
Architect William B. Tubby designed the eleven-story Renaissance Revival American Thread Building for the Wool Warehouse Company. Originally known as the Wool Exchange Building, it was completed in 1896. In 1981, it was converted to live-work loft units.
The excavation of the foundation for the Western Union Building at 60 Hudson Street is in the foreground.
