Workshops and storefronts on Atlantic Avenue and Nevins Streets, ca. 1940s. The view is northward along Nevins Street.

The large advertisements at left promote the "home of Ex-Lax." The laxative was, in fact, produced in that very building on Atlantic Avenue. In the era of animal testing, monkeys used to test the product were housed in an enclosed structure on the roof. The building was sold for condo conversion in 1979.
