291 Church Street, ca. 1979.

No 291 (second building from the right, with the sign at top) was erected in 1877 in a neo-Grec style. The four-story, store-and-loft building was designed by John B. Snook, who built many industrial structures in TriBeCa and SoHo.

A number of the historic features of the building remain, including the cast-iron columned base and the wooden signage at the top which advertised one of the tenants, a D. Rich Company.

Today the buildings is occupied by Apex Art, a non-profit arts organization and a single large residence on the upper floors.
