WIlliam H Good's House
Seth Low Mansion, 1954.
Constructed in 1857 by the businessman, entrepreneur, and real estate developer A.A. Low, the Low Mansion served as mayorial residence long before Gracie Mansion took on that mantle. A.A. Low's son, Seth (named for this grandfather, one of the founders of the city of Brooklyn) was mayor of Brooklyn 1881 to 1885 and later the second mayor of the newly consolidated New York City, 1901 to 1902.
Once one of three grand brownstones here on Pierrepont Place, only nos. 3 (seen here) and 2 (originally the Alexander M. White House, connected at right) remain. No. 1, built for a member of the street's namesake family was demolished in 1946.
In 2015 the Low House was offered up for sale for a whopping $40 million, making it Brooklyn’s most expensive listing. When it did not sell at that price, the owner then decided to rent the home as four luxury units ranging from $4,500 to $12,000 a month.
