“3 East 95th Street, east of the N.E. corner of Fifth Avenue. This house was formerly the residence of Clarence Mackay. About 1922.”
The Mrs. Amory S. Carhart mansion, designed in 1913 by prominent Philadelphia architect Horace Trumbauer, was completed in 1921, under the ownership of financier Clarence Mackay (Marion Carhart died in 1919 with the construction unfinished). The Lycée Français de New York acquired the building in 1935. Made a New York City Landmark in 1974, the Lycée Français sold the mansion in the early 2000s.
