Stuyvesant Polyclinic Hospital ARCHITECT: William Schickel DATE: 1883-84 STYLE: Neo-Italian Renaissance

This building is an exceptionally handsome building designed in a modified version of the neo-Italian Renaissance style. The extensive and imaginative use of molded terra cotta on the facade was innovative when the building was constructed. The ornament is especially Interesting for its series of portrait busts depicting famous physicians and scientists.
