135 Joralemon Street, 1925.

Although a few blocks south of the main cluster of remaining wood-frame Heights homes, this two-story home with attic and twin dormer windows is a remnant of a period when all of Brooklyn Heights was populated by Federal style buildings. The intricate ironwork on the broad porch (though not original) calls out this building as special even among its early wood-frame brethren. And, but for dedicated owners and a considerable sum of money, this house might have been lost just in the last decade. A substantial fire gutted the home in 2004, causing extensive damage, and many in the neighborhood worried about its survival. But, by 2008, it was beautifully restored inside and out.
