Walter C. Mordecai residence, ca. 1915.
Kew Gardens in one of the planned communities of Queens. In the late 19th century the area included Maple Grove Cemetery and the railroad station that served mourners with minimal population. In the first decade of the 20th century, a new community was planned, lots were laid out and developed and infrastructure and municipal services installed. It was to this new garden community of largely neo-Tudor style homes that Walter C. Mordecai moved into in 1912. Purchasing the large and well appointed corner home (once No. 123 Quentin Road) for his new bride, the couple resided here until 1933.
Re-numbered along with huge portions of Queens in the 1920s, the address is now 119-04 80th Road. Since the 1960s the house has been home to at least two dentists.
