Attached Greek Revival row houses, 1958.
The homes were built in 1853 for the developer Samuel I. Underhill, along with a matching pair at 297-299 Cumberland Street (at right). Before Italianate brownstone townhouses came into vogue, Greek Revival row houses were a popular choice for Fort Greene builders and homeowners. The four wooden row houses were built with a shared colonnade porch, each with its own stoop leading to a parlor-level entrance.
