Burroughs Family Burial Ground, 1923.

This small private family burial ground once sat on the back of a lot that faced the commons area of the village of Newtown. The graveyard was cut in half in 1930 with the mapping of Alstyne Avenue. In 1932 when a survey of the plot was undertaken, 16 grave markers were recorded dating from 1793 to 1871.

Today the streets nearby are lined with homes. It is unclear if the graves were moved, covered over, or, are somehow still extant in someone's backyard.
