Stuyvesant Pear tree, N.E. corner, 13th & 3rd. Ave.

This corner was once called "Pear Tree Corner' because it was believed that the first tree planted in New York City, was the pear tree planted here in 1647 by Peter Stuyvesant, the former Dutch governor of New Amsterdam.
