DeKalb Avenue and Bushwick Avenue. Brooklyn Public Library branch.
DeKalb Branch, August 18, 1930.
The DeKalb Library was constructed on a plot that has previously been occupied by an 1854-built Italianate villa. The DeKalb Library was one of the original Brooklyn libraries, pre-dating this structure. The new library building, created as part of the Carnegie grant, was completed in 1905 and designed by William B. Tubby. The library was located in a prime spot, near to numerous streetcar routes and only a block away from the busy commercial strip along Broadway. The building was designated an individual landmark in 2004.
