521 East 6th Street, ca. 1970s.
In the 1970s, East 6th Street between Avenues A and B was transformed into Little Italy for the Godfather Part II. At the time of production, the movie actually presented a fascinating record of what 1920s-era New York City looked like. The Oscar-winning sequel used East 6th Street to depict Vito Corleone’s Italian neighborhood of 1917, where he first started his family and his life of crime.
