Columbia University Midtown Campus, ca. 1897.
Between 1857 and 1897, Columbia University was located between Madison and Park Avenues from 49th to 50th Streets. This location was the school's second home after moving north from Park Place.
At the time, the school was known as 'Columbia College' —it would be christened 'Columbia University' upon its move to the Morningside Heights.
