Village Plaza Hotel, ca. 1975.

Built in 1915, the Hotel Colborne was renamed the Village Plaza Hotel in 1960, when it was sold to new owners. A few years later, the Village Plaza was a seedy SRO hotel, named in contemporary reports as the final fixed address for Linda Fitzpatrick, who was bludgeoned to death alongside her boyfriend in the so-called “groovy murders” of 1967 (the boyfriend went by “Groovy” in Village circles).
