Former Madison Street Mission, ca. 1973.

Now an apartment house, 209 Madison Street, was originally built in 1886 as the Madison Street Mission. The mission, an extension of the First Mariners Methodist Church, closed in 1894.

Later, 209 Madison Street became home to Etz Chaim Anshei Wolozin, a Jewish congregation with roots in present-day Belarus. They occupied the space for a number of years, but like many other Lower East Side synagogues, the building was converted into a residential property in 1933.
