Moishe's Bakery
Post

Moishe's Bakery, date unknown. Opened in the mid 1970s in a storefront that had been a bakery for decades, Moishe's Bakery has been providing kosher delights for more than four decades. Established by Moishe Perl, whose father worked in the baking business after coming to America from a Nazi concentration camp, the shop was well placed in the neighborhood where a substantial Jewish, Ukrainian and Polish communities resided. Today the menu remains the same as when the shop opened, with hamantaschen, rugelach, mandelbrot, sugar kichels and chocolate babka offered to the ever-changing East Village neighbors and those who travel from all over the city for sweets.
