Post

Fifth Avenue at the southeast corner of 46th Street, 1946. Notice the two versions of double-decker Fifth Avenue Coaches waiting at the light. On the left, an older model, likely a Yellow Coach-produced Type Z (1930) with a covered upper level. The bus on the right is a Model 735 (1936-1938), which was called the Queen Mary because of its supposed likeness to the cruise ship.

Story

In honor of the New York Transit Museum's annual Bus Festival, we've put together a collection of vintage bus photography to go along with our vintage bus fleet. These historic images look back on a time when green and white buses crisscrossed Brooklyn and double deckers stopped in Washington Square Park. Hop on! Don't forget to try out the Urban Archive photo recreation feature and tag your #thenandnow photos @nytransitmuseum and @urbanarchiveny
