Bijou Theatre
Post
Bijou Theatre ca. 1895 The Bijou started out as a sporting saloon popular with Wall Street men and members of the theatrical profession during the mid-1870s. The saloon was remodeled in 1878 and became a playhouse for variety and minstrel performances. In 1883, a new theater was erected on the site of the old playhouse and became a successful venue for light opera. It was razed and replaced by an office building in 1915.
