Newtown - Capt. Luke Remsen House - Flushing Meadows-Corona Park

Capt. Luke Remsen House - Later owned by Ascan Backus around 1850. An isolated house land near Meadow Lake on the south side of the current 65th Road and east of 112th St. (now Park Land at Grand Central Parkway in Flushing Meadows). Sole access was by wagon track from Colonial Ave. and 62nd Drive, seven blocks away (see 1852 Dripps Map, 1859 Walling Map and 1873 Beers Map). The house was gone by 1927.
