Newtown - Capt. Luke Remsen House - Flushing Meadows-Corona Park

Capt. Luke Remsen House - Later owned by Ascan Backus around 1850. West and south (front) facades of the house. Note water pump. Located in an isolated site on the Meadows, on the south side pf 65th Road, east of 112th St. (in Current Parkland). Access was via private wagon lane from Old Mill Rd. (Colonial Ave. at 62nd Drive). The house was gone by 1927.
