Queens has been developed to be one of New York City’s most diverse borough. Astoria is no different and it is located on the Northwest corner of Queens, New York. Astoria has now become a popular residential area for young professionals due to its fast commute to Manhattan, inexpensive housing and rich nightlife it offers.
Astoria Ferry Landing

The earliest ferry to Hallets Point in the mid-1600s used the same location as the modern service – on Hallets Cove. The early boats were summoned by a bell on the opposite shore. During the Revolution, the British started regular service. Steven Halsey, the “Father of Astoria” purchased steamboats that kept regular schedule between the tip of Hallets Point and Manhattan. Service terminated with the opening the Triborough Bridge in the 1930s. There is new interest in reviving direct service to Yorkville

Story
Who is the Bridge and Tunnel crowd? In more quotidian times, that moniker might call to mind tourists from New Jersey. Currently, the crowd in question might be New Yorkers themselves: Over the past several months, many New Yorkers have sped across these spans on their way out of the city. At the same time, subway-wary city-dwellers have also streamed across New York’s bridges, and through its tunnels, making what would ordinarily be public transit trips by foot, bike or car. Whether you’re in-town or out-of-town, this is a bridge and tunnel moment for New York City. Since the pandemic has redefined our relationship the city’s iconic modes of ingress and egress, let’s take this moment to recognize the bridges and tunnels that carry us in and out of the Upper East Side.
