Side view of cradle for lowering flexible jointed pipe from pipe-laying scow to its final position in a trench dug into the floor of New York Harbor. The central portion has been straightened out by removing the pins from the top chord. Municipal dock, Stapleton, New York. June 18, 1914.

Board of Water Supply. Conduit and Reservoir Division. Narrows Siphon 1. Cradle used to lay submarine pipe between Brooklyn and Staten Island. The cradle has just been lifted from municipal dock at Stapleton, Staten Island, where it was stored during the spring of 1915 and preceding winter. It is suspended between derrick scows "Century" (left) and "Capitol" on the right. The flat scow "Luna" (center) was used only as a separator between the two derrick scows. June 7, 1915.
