9-29 27th Avenue One of the homes in the original village of Astoria, this stately Italianate was constructed for a local doctor. It is one of a handful of large homes that remain of the original village residences. It is located within the largest concentration of these historic buildings between 9th and 14th Streets and 26th and 27th Avenues. Called the Chamberlain-Taylor (deWayt) house (for the various doctors who owned it), it was constructed in the early 1840s. In 2013 the house, which had been gut renovated, was put up for sale for $1.5 million before being removed from the market soon after.
