“More Ballots: Less Bullets.” The 1913 Suffrage Parade!
Story
On May 3rd, 1913, marchers arranged themselves, as the New York Times described, “In straight and graceful lines which were brightened with resplendent decorations, passed in attractive and impressive dignity up Fifth Avenue…it was the greatest spectacular triumph ever won by women in this country in their pursuit of the ballot.”

Manhattan: 5th Avenue - 41st Street Fifth Ave., east side, south from East 42nd to 4lst Streets. Building shown, is Rutgers Female College (founded 1838 by Chancellor Ferris). This photograph was presented to the graduating class of 1875. This institution lost this property, at a later date, and moved to 56 West 55th Street. 1875\. Gift of Mrs. C.M. Benson.
