Spencer Aldrich Mansion, ca. 1975. An elaborate Romanesque Revival mansion designed by Gilbert Schellenger for the family of Spencer Aldrich, a real estate developer, President of the Real Estate Exchange, and society figure. Construction was completed in 1897. During the 1950s, significant alterations were made to the building’s entrance and lower floors: the stoop was removed and the ground floor was converted to include retail storefronts.
