Story
If you opened the New York Times on a November morning in 1903, you might have glanced at an article on the front page that quoted a curious ad that had appeared in newspapers throughout the east coast. "$5000 will be paid for right ear, 2 1/2 inches long, 1 1/4 inches wide. with perfect curves and full lobe; the ear may be from either male or female, and must be from a person in perfect health; offers by mail considered."
