Train tracks and New York Dock Company warehouses at the foot of Montague Street, May 19, 1914. This photo was taken 5 months before construction commenced on the Montague Street Tunnel. The tunnel, connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan service on the BMT's Broadway (Manhattan) and Fourth Avenue lines, was completed six years later, opening on the same day as the 60th Street Tunnel, which provides a similar connection to Queens. A ventilation tunnel now stands on this site.
