Newtown - Old Debevoise House - Forest Hills

Old Debevoise House - (aka Charles Stehling House) the shingled house at a "new" site on the NE corner of Metropolitan Ave. and Continental Ave. (71st Ave.) The Debevoise house originally was originally a block east at the NE corner Metropolitan Ave. and 72nd Ave., it was moved around 1890. The house belonged to A. Hegeman 1852, Mrs. Hendrickson 1860 - 1873, Jacob S. Debevoise 1891, J. Debevoise 1896. John Boss occupied 1922. The house was torn down in 1924. Photo taken April 1923.
