48-54 West 25th Street, ca. 1923. Architects George and Edward Blum erected this 12-story building in 1910 for Abraham E. Lefcourt, who at the time was a cloak and suit manufacturer. While Lefcourt eventually came to be a prolific real estate developer, erecting more than 20 buildings in Manhattan in under a decade, this lofted-structure was his first construction in the city. Before his commissioning career took off, Lefcourt designated the bottom two floors of this building as a space for his own clothing factory.
