Lorin Maazel was a Jewish American composer, conductor and musical prodigy. Seen here at age 9 conducting the National Music Camp Orchestra of the Interlochen Bowl Preparatory from the New York World's Fair Friday August 18, 1939.

Brooklyn: Van Sinderen - Fulton St. Van Sinderen Ave., at the S.W. corner of Fulton Street, showing the Manhattan Hotel. Also seen is the Fulton Street Elevated Line of the B.1.T. In 1873 this hotel known as the Metropolitan, was owned by Robert Smith. It stood on the Brooklyn town line. This hotel was demolished in 1924, and a 2-story building was erected by the Western Electric Co. 1922\. Eugene L. Armbruster Collection.
