Delancey Pine

Bronx: Bronx Park - Delancey Pine. 2 - DE LANCEY PINE, Bronx Park, Bronx Borough. Rises 150 feet from the ground, and is near the site of the old De Lancey Mansion of Revolutionary Fame, the rendezvous of the British officers. In the branches of this great tree the Americah sharpshooters used to climb, and from this well concealed place of vantage would pick off the Red Coats stationed at the De Lancey Block House just across the Bronx River. "Memorial of the fallen great, The rich and honored line; Stands high in solitary state, De Lancey's Ancient Pine." This tree measures 11 feet, 5 inches in circumference, 3 feet from base.
